Looking for a weekend of hockey that is competitive enough to be exciting, while still focused on fun, sportsmanship, and meeting great people?
The August Friendly is designed primarily for newbie and beginner players looking for a welcoming tournament experience.

Tournament Format
We will have 4 balanced teams competing in one division, with every player guaranteed 4 games over the weekend.
- 2 games on Saturday
- 2 games on Sunday
- 3 round robin games
- 1st vs 2nd in the Championship Game
- 3rd vs 4th in the Consolation Game
Games will include referees and scorekeepers, with scores and statistics tracked throughout the weekend.
Each team will also include a small number of experienced Hockeytourney mentors. Mentors are there to encourage and support newer players, not to take over the game.
Mentor spots are by invitation only. Additional experienced players will only be accepted if needed to complete the tournament.
The tournament follows ARCHL rules and is built around respect, sportsmanship, and community. Everyone wants to win, but creating a positive and enjoyable experience comes first.
If you are looking for an ultra competitive tournament where every shift feels like Game 7, this probably is not the right event for you.
Individual Registration & Friend Requests
This is an individual registration tournament, not a team entry event. Players will be placed on balanced teams.
You may request one friend to play with:
- The request must be mutual. Both players must request each other.
- Each player may request only one friend.
- Requests are not guaranteed and will only be accommodated if we can maintain balanced teams.
Schedule & Ice Times
Your team will play two games each day. Games are spread throughout the day, so expect to spend a good portion of the weekend at the rink.
Breaks between games give you time to relax, watch other games, meet other players, or grab lunch nearby.
Saturday, August 22
- 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM
- 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM

The complete game schedule will be posted once registration closes and teams have been finalized.
Roster Size
Each team will have 13 skaters, giving everyone plenty of ice time throughout the weekend.
Registration is limited to 52 skaters and spots are filled on a first come, first served basis.
Goalies
Goalies are welcome to register their interest. Final goalie assignments will be confirmed once teams have been selected and availability has been verified.
Jerseys
A tournament jersey will be provided to all players and must be worn during games.
Please return your jersey at the end of each day so it can be washed and prepared for the following day’s games.
Finals Party
Stick around after the final games on Sunday for our Finals Party at Trout Lake.
We have rented a room at the rink from 3:15 PM to 6:30 PM, giving everyone a place to hang out and celebrate the weekend.
Beer and pizza will be available, along with plenty of time to relax with teammates and the new people you met over the weekend.
