August Weekend Friendly
Looking for a weekend of hockey that is competitive enough to be exciting, while still focused on fun, sportsmanship, and meeting great people?
The August Friendly is designed primarily for newbie and beginner players looking for a welcoming tournament experience.
Our goal is simple: play great hockey, meet great people, and leave excited for the next time you step on the ice.
The tournament takes place on Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Trout Lake Ice Rink.
We will have 4 balanced teams competing in one division. Our goal is to create evenly matched games that everyone can enjoy.
Every player is guaranteed 4 games over one weekend.
- 2 games on Saturday
- 2 games on Sunday
Each team will play three round robin games. After the round robin, the top two teams will play in the Championship Game and the other two teams will play in the Consolation Game.
This format ensures every team plays the same number of games while giving everyone something to play for on Sunday afternoon.
Games will include referees and scorekeepers, with scores and statistics tracked throughout the weekend.
To help create a fun and supportive environment, each team will include a small number of experienced Hockeytourney mentors. These players are there to encourage, support, and help newer players develop, not to take over the game.
Mentor spots are by invitation only and are reserved for players who are known to support the spirit of the tournament. Additional experienced players will only be accepted if needed to complete the tournament.
This tournament follows ARCHL rules and is built around respect, sportsmanship, and community. While everyone wants to win, the priority is creating a positive experience where players can improve, meet new people, and enjoy the game.
If you are looking for an ultra competitive tournament where every shift feels like Game 7, this probably is not the right event for you.
Individual Registration and Friend Requests
This is an individual registration tournament, not a team entry event.
We will do our best to accommodate friend requests while still creating balanced teams.
- Friend requests must be mutual. Both players must request each other.
- Each player may request one friend only.
- Friend requests cannot be guaranteed, but we will do our best to honour them while maintaining balanced teams.
